Garden Journal: Planting Time

  • we had 2 sunflowers, the largest at the time was eaten by our cat; the other started growing shortly after that
  • all of the tomatoes except for the orange tomatoes grew
  • the basil is doing great, our fear is that deer might come and attack the plants
  • the stalk is doing fine
  • the catnip and the chamomile are doing great, if they grow, then we will hopefully have some chamomile-catnip tea soon! (but 2 of the catnip did not make it.)
  • one of the sages grew, but the other one did not
  • the strawberry popcorn did not make it
  • one of the majoram did not make it, the other grew
  • only two of the deer-tongue lettuce survived, although they are pretty leggy
  • the lemon balm didn’t make it
  • the cucumbers did not make it either
  • the cowslip: ditto
  • purslane: not in the least
  • only one sage grew

sadly, bout’ over 50% of the plants sewn didn’t make it

Garden Journal: Big discoveries

The sunflower seedling is very fuzzy on its plumule (eventually develops into the shoot). The clary sage true leaves are even fuzzier. The deer tounge lettuce is getting leggy (not enough sun light). Need to repot or direct sew when garden plot is ready. Green tomato seedlings are taller.

The sweet pea seeds did not sprout. We dug them up and they were gooey.

Garden Journal: Sprouting Continues

the majoram plants have grown really well, their true leaves are starting to become noticeable; the large sunflower was attacked by the cat and sadly didn’t make it; the sage is sprouting with what we believe to be a misplaced deer tongue; the second sunflower is finally growing; and the rest of the deer tongue that are not withered or withering are bent over a lot ‘cause me and my sister were holding the jiffy-pots that they were in.

Garden Journal: First Sprouts!

The deer’s tongue sprouted very fast; some of the seeds that i dropped anonymously sprouted out of the soil pod.

Purslane sprouted. The end of it is red. Looks like the chamomile is sprouting too. Hard to tell because it is so small.

Garden Journal: First Sprouts!

This has got to be a record! The Deer Tongue Lettuce (Lactuca Sativa) has sprouted already. It is so tiny I can’t get a good picture. We bought the seeds from the Amish late last year.
