Knitting FO: Bunny

Sorry for the horrid photo. I finished this yesterday night and didn’t get a chance all day to get a shot outside with it.

The instructions are found here at Heart Strings Fiber Arts. The yarn is Pitter Patter by Baby Bee in Angel white (Hobby Lobby brand I believe). Knitted on US #3 DPNs. The resulting fabric is a lot like chenille. Oh so snuggly soft. If it wouldn’t take fer-bleedin-ever, I’d knit meself a blanket or something out of it.

I changed the ears a bit from what the pattern calls for. I knew they had to be just right to bring out the personality of this yarn. I knitted 14 rows before beginning to decrease. Then, before attaching them, I folded the base in half. It really helped them stand up I think.

The tail is the i-cord variation sewed into a cap-like spiral, stuffed with a little yarn bits and sewn on securely. With this yarn, the sewing just disappears like magic!

So I’m going to have to make a few more of these. This one is for the neighbor’s son who turned two on Tuesday.

Blue Socks

Are still on the needles… even after a year. I just finished the afterthought heels last night. they are so comfy. I really, really can’t wait to wear them.
I do knit on them now and then, really. But a lack of time coupled with a very fine yarn makes for veeeeeery slooooooooow progress. 8O I very nearly decided to make them little footlet socks and stop here. But then you really couldn’t see the garter stitch rib well and I kinda like the way that looks soooooo… maybe they’ll be complete by next year.

Knitting FOs

I know I haven’t been blogging about it (or going to the local SnB) lately, but I have been knitting a few things. Here’s some proof:

Calorimetry Scood

*sigh*  I swear those images were showing last night. Now I can’t get them too. Click on the words  to go to the image in the yahoo gallery. Now I remember why I decided to put FO objects on my website and not yahoo. :\
There are a few more shots of these at my yahoo album. I’ve gone back to them since Flickr only lets you see your latest 200 pics for free. :(
The first image is Calorimetry done in Frog Tree Alpaca as a gift for (someone). It is actually the second one I’ve made. But I can’t find the first one, which was for me. :( The second image is Scood done in Burly Spun wool. I’ve since redone the bindoff and it made a HUGE difference.

Problem was I had a foot of yarn left after knitting the last row. This was during the big ice storm and I really, really wanted to wear this. But I just wasn’t happy with the resulting fit. The scarf part didn’t seem long enough and it wasn’t stretchy (because of the crochet cast off). So I broke down and bought another skein of Burly Spun and redid it as the pattern called. Made a HUGE difference… sorry said that already didn’t I. LOL! It was a different bind off. Sorta like a chain stitch in between each bound off stitch. It is noticeably stretchier than my cast on. But I ain’t about to redo THAT!
I’m STILL working on Sam’s Pikachu socks. Sigh. Really unhappy with the way the topstitching is going so I started on the second sock. I’m at the gusset increases now. Had to relearn how to do that since its been so long since I did the first one. oops!
Ok, its late (again). I need to get showered and throw myself in bed. Tomorrow I’ll have to get ready for QPT… camera, stuff to work on (preprint original)… oh, and my entry and documentation. Never was able to find a nifty something to put it in. :(
