Home again

We’re back. I feel like doo. I still have that cold/flu/thing I got on my birthday. Top it off with allergies. Gah. Want to crawl into bed and be unconscious for a looooooong time. Woke up at 3am trying to cough up my spleen. I think I succeeded.

Must go wake up kids now. More later.

NESOB progress

Still knitting on these Never Ending Socks Of Blue. But I can feel the end is getting close. Maybe it is my excitement that is makeing the rounds go faster. LOL! I mean I’m adding stitches… but it is going faster. Man! I can’t wait to wear these. They are sooooooo comfy!

So far, I’ve done 5 increase rows and I think I’ll need to do 3 or 4 more before FINALLY getting to the ribbing. I’m into the 3rd skein now and alternate doing 10 rounds plus an increase round on one sock then the other. Hmmm… wonder if I can get these done by sock wars…?

Garden Journal: First Sprouts!

The deer’s tongue sprouted very fast; some of the seeds that i dropped anonymously sprouted out of the soil pod.

Purslane sprouted. The end of it is red. Looks like the chamomile is sprouting too. Hard to tell because it is so small.

Running with a friend

Distance: 4.4 mi
Time: 47 minutes
Roughly 11 min miles

Not bad. I hurt… but in a good way.

Got up at 6am to run with Mama N at 7. She is faster, lighter… and younger. Much. Younger. However, she is a mom (of 4) and a homeschooling mom at that. :) Made for some great conversation while running. Her husband does triathlons so I think we need to get both families together. I know someday Bob will be doing “tri’s” too. ;) Maybe we could trade babysitting time so that Bob and I could run together!

Mama N has also inspired me to get back on track for loosing weight. (portion control) I’ve regained that 10 pounds and am back up to 170. :( I’d really like to get down to 160 this year, if not 150.

Friday Freewrite: Signs ‘o Spring

Well… I seeing a lot of greens, there are a lot of budding plants like: dandelions, wild rose, crabgrass, and gooseberry. The grass is getting A LOT greener, my mom found a odd yellow flower. The animals that are only here in the spring are coming back like cedar wax-wings, rabbits and other animals of the such. Dunno whaddelse to say.

Back to School Blast 2008

One of my favorite online resources, Homeschool Share, is having a contest for new material. This place has got a lot of great unit studies, lapbook plans, notebooking pages FOR FREE. Really nice stuff. We’re doing their poetry unit starting tomorrow.

Anyhoo, the’re looking for more great lessons! If I had time….

Garden Journal: First Sprouts!

This has got to be a record! The Deer Tongue Lettuce (Lactuca Sativa) has sprouted already. It is so tiny I can’t get a good picture. We bought the seeds from the Amish late last year.

Tuesday Tea Time

Been wanting to do this for a while. Today, since we were going to start our poetry unit for National Poetry month, I made the time.

This idea comes from Bravewriter. The “table cloth” is fleece yardage that was originally meant for a jacket… got pilfered for a blanket and now has been used for a table cloth. The candles were made by the kids at the recent Walk-About Acres tour.

Not a perfect execution by any means but it was a good start to something I hope will be enjoyable for all of us.

You know you need help when

Breakfast leftovers become fodder for bento ideas.

DH did eat it afterwards. Coincidence?
